As a customer of Virginia Dare Dress Co., you’re supporting a small business with ethical manufacturing practices, as well as helping us to give back to our local community in a whole variety of different ways.
[We think that’s pretty wonderful, and we’re so very grateful for you!]
It’s our dearest wish to encourage you to go boldly wherever life takes you by bringing more beauty to your everyday life, and our clothes are always designed to help you feel like your best self.
Behind every garment sold in the world today is a person, sitting in front of a sewing machine; it takes time, care, and skill to craft a piece of clothing, and we believe in treating everyone in our supply chain with respect and gratitude. You can rest assured that shopping with us not only makes your life more beautiful, but it helps make the lives of the people who made your clothes more beautiful, too.
We do our best to encourage conscious consumerism by putting quality over quantity and encouraging women to make thoughtful choices about what they buy. By combining timeless, classic designs with high standards of manufacturing, we’re ensuring that our dresses can be enjoyed for many years to come.
From the thoughtfulness and care with which we design our dresses, to our relationships with our suppliers, manufacturers, and lovely customers, kindness is the principle that guides our business.
We love brightening someone’s day and reminding them that they’re not alone, whether that’s dropping by to thank our manufacturers with delicious pastries or using the resources we’ve been blessed with to help those in need.
By donating dresses to Women Giving Back, we help provide clothes for women in transition from shelters to the workplace, and we also run a scheme called Solidarity Dresses which gives our kindreds the chance to nominate a friend who’s going through a particularly hard time for a free dress. You can find out more about Solidarity Dresses and nominate someone you love, here.
When we started out, all our designs were made in a factory and then family-run atelier in Guatemala that our founder, Rebekah, and production coordinator visited personally many times over the years.
In 2019, we moved Virginia Dare Dress Co’s manufacturing closer to home, in a charming small town here in Virginia. This means that we can more easily ensure the highest quality production and pay careful attention to detail, every step of the way.
This helps us ensure the highest quality production for our garments and lets us pay careful attention to detail, every step of the way.
Each of our dresses lists the country of origin on the label, so finding out where your dress was crafted is as easy as can be.
