As a customer of Virginia Dare Dress Co., you’re supporting a small woman-owned business with ethical manufacturing practices, as well as helping us to give back to our local community in a whole variety of different ways.
From the thoughtfulness and care with which we design our dresses, to our relationships with suppliers, manufacturers, and customers, kindness is the principle that guides our business.
We love brightening someone's day and reminding them that they're not alone, whether that's dropping by to thank our manufacturers with a basket of delicious pastries, or using the resources we're blessed with to help those in need.
Every Virginia Dare Dress Co. product is thoughtfully designed to celebrate and empower women. Each piece is tested on a range of real women of all different body shapes and sizes before they go into production, to ensure the highest quality and best fit.
Behind every garment sold in the world today is a person at its start, in front of a sewing machine; we want ours to be treated well.
You can rest assured that shopping with us not only makes your life more beautiful, but it helps make the lives of the people who made your clothes more beautiful, too.
By donating dresses to Women Giving Back, we help provide clothes for women in transition from shelters to the workplace, and we also run a scheme called Solidarity Dresses which gives our kindreds the chance to nominate a friend who’s going through a particularly hard time for a free dress. You can find out more about Solidarity Dresses, here.
When we started out, our clothes were made in a family-run atelier and factory in Guatemala that we visited many times over the years. More recently, we’ve moved the production of all our new garments to a small factory in Pennsylvania, USA—near enough to Virginia (where our founder, Rebekah, lives) that we can be closely involved in the manufacturing process, every step of the way. Each of our dresses lists the country of origin on the label.
